Today on Water Quality Wednesday we're reporting our 2019 dissolved oxygen results for 13 of our monitoring sites in the watershed. Dissolved oxygen is one of the most important factors in water quality, as it determines how much oxygen is available in the water for aerobic organisms to breathe. The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) has defined specific thresholds of dissolved oxygen in fresh water systems, which indicate conditions under which aquatic organisms may be experiencing physiological stress.
