We had an amazing 55 folks join us for a night of stargazing and night time hiking. We were so lucky to hear barred owls, herons and frogs calling in the darkness, have a stunning moment of "not so silent" silence on the boardwalk and heard so many stories about the night sky.
Our third and fourth water quality surveys were done on August 11th & 16th and September 7th & 9th, which brings our water quality survey season to a close! As you can see, the results indicated no E.Coli or temperature exceedances in the Nashwaak Watershed. A few sites came close to exceeding 20°C in August due to the heatwave, the highest being 19.9°C at Campbell Creek headpond. Temperatures are steadily decreasing this month thanks to this fall weather, which is ideal for coldwater fish such as salmon and brook trout. #waterqualitymonitoring#eauNBwater #mynashwaak #wolastoq#conservation#fishofnb... Last Thursday we had an amazing turnout of 55 folks who joined us at the Mactaquac Beaver pond for an awesome night of stargazing and night time hiking. We were so lucky to hear barred owls, great blue herons and green frogs calling in the darkness, have a stunning moment of "not so silent" silence on the boardwalk in the falling darkness and had so many stories shared with us about the night sky and our animal kin. We understand that there were lots of folks who were unable to attend because registration filled up so quickly, it seems that next year we will likely need to do two! Stay tuned for our winter events that will happen at the Beaver pond again. Summer may be winding down, but don't forget the shorter days of fall bring the beautiful stars into a more accessible time frame for the little ones in our lives. We encourage you as always to get out with your family and friends and enjoy all that nature has to offer. ... See MoreSee Less
