Annual General Meeting 2018

November 19, 2018

On November 13th, 2018, we held our yearly Annual General Meeting, and overall it was a huge success!  Although it was a stormy evening, we had 33 stakeholders from the community in attendance, including members from our Board of Directors.

Executive Marieka Chaplin addressing the attendees of our 2018 AGM.

We were also fortunate to have Dr. Michelle Gray, from UNB Fredericton and the Canadian Rivers Institute, to speak on the topic of “Forest Harvest on the Watershed”. Dr. Gray’s presentation consisted of an overview of watersheds and how they are influenced by certain forestry practices, as well as an open discussion amongst the attendees. A copy of Dr. Gray’s presentation is available by clicking Presentation by Dr. Gray

As surprise guests to help us to promote our duck box giveaway for Nashwaak Watershed landowners, we had a male and female wood duck visit from Nashwaak Valley Farms.

We would like to begin by thanking the NWAI Board of Directors for contributing their time and effort for our 2018 Annual General Meeting, and we would like to thank the community members continuously support us through memberships and volunteering.

Board of Directors:  Top Row First From (L) to (R): Melony McCarthy, Brian Perry, Mark Gautreau and Julia Carpenter. Jean-Guy Leaman, Peter Toner and William Millar. Missing Stephanie Merrill, Josh Noseworthy and Peter Salonius

We would also like to thank our funders, the NB Environmental Trust Fund, the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation, the NB Wildlife Trust Fund, Wildlife Habitat Canada, Eco-Action Community Funding Program, Patagonia, LUSH Cosmetics, WWF Loblaw Water Fund, and we recieved a private donation from the estate of Mr Gordon Dunphy. We would like to thank all of our in-kind partners as well.

Rogers TV was also in attendance, and we will post their coverage of our Annual General Meeting in the coming weeks.

Again, we would like to thank those that continually support us, and we look forward to seeing everyone next year at our 2019 Annual General Meeting!

Rain gardens are designed to collect rainwater run-off, slow its movement, allowing it to filter back into the ground conducting it back into the water table. Read all about the @DailyGleaner article by John Chilibeck here: https://t.co/EnOMnHY8SX #eaunbwater #mynashwaak https://t.co/1BfSQnQXEL
