Cinema Politica Screening of ‘The Hole Story’

We’re proud to be co-sponsoring a film screening coming up in Fredericton. Cinema Politica Fredericton presents The Hole Story. The screening will be held at Conserver House, 180 St. John St., Fredericton, on Friday, Feb. 22nd at 7pm.

NFB Trailer – THE HOLE STORY from Cinema Politica on Vimeo.

“Don’t know much about mines? Not many people do. Mines don’t talk. Especially about their history.” The history of mining in Canada is the story of astronomical profits made with disregard for the environment and human health. The story of nickel in Sudbury, silver in Cobalt, gold in Timmins, copper in Rouyn…Using striking images, rare archival footage, interviews and their trademark humorous social commentary, Desjardin and Monderie make their case against the way mining has been done in Canada with clarity and conviction. All Cinema Politica documentaries are followed by a discussion about the film for those who wish to stay.

We will be joined by CCNB Action for a discussion about the Sisson mine in the Nashwaak watershed. Films are free to the public but donations are encouraged to cover expenses.
